Can your dog help to save the lives of up to four other dogs? We need your help in attracting more life saving blood donors like Alfie.
Alfie here is a regular donor at our sessions. Like all our other donors he is fit and healthy, hasn’t been abroad, is up to date with his vaccinations, weighs over 25kg, is aged 1-8, not on any medication and has a good temperament. Many pet owners have no idea that a service like Pet Blood Bank exists until their canine companion suddenly requires a blood transfusion as a result of illness or injury.
Just like us humans, dogs have a health check with a vet before they donate and a blood test is performed to ensure that they are definitely fit and healthy before we proceed. They then lie down and get lots of fuss whilst the blood is taken, approximately 450mls which takes around 5-10 minutes, and afterwards receive a small bowl of food, a drink of water, a toy and a very smart bandana that they can show off with pride.
So, if you think your dog meets the criteria and can help to save another dog’s life get in touch with us on 01926 423161 and register your dog for our next session on Sunday 15th October.
